I have been involved with design during several careers spanning forty years. In the 1980’s I worked in the contract furniture industry as a space planner for corporate offices and had my own residential design consultation business. I studied interior design with the renowned San Francisco designer, John Wheatman, and participated in numerous design workshops and conferences including the Stanford Design Project at Stanford University.

In 1993 my husband, Robert Hecht, and I formed a San Francisco video production company producing educational and marketing videos for the medical industry. One of my primary roles was as Art Director on filming sets and on 3-D animation projects. After a successful twenty-five year run with On Point Productions, my husband and I decided to wind down the business, leave the Bay Area and move to Portland.

As one who is not suited to ‘retirement’ I decided to recommit to my interior design roots and form Accent Red Design. My focus is on helping people with residential design needs in the Portland area. I consult with clients in four main areas: downsizing to a smaller home, upscaling or upgrading to higher quality furnishings or a new home, reinventing your existing home with new objectives and refreshing the look of an existing home.

Why “Accent Red” Design:

Red is a perfect accent color. It can be made to go with some hue of all the other colors. Red is the color of passion, vitality, life, energy. It’s sexy. Even a touch of it can add pizzazz. Red stops people in their tracks—literally.

The ache for home lives in all of us.
